Wicklow, a small town in Alabama, holds many secrets.  For Anna Kate, coming home to run her Grandmother, Zee's, café, was the last thing she wanted to do. She is going to medical school in 2 months.  She has plans. The last thing she needs is to be stuck in this town, building friendships and relationships with these people, especially with her late father's side of the family.

But Wicklow gets ahold of you, and it's hard to leave.  Soon, the people and this southern town and all of it's charm, grab her and won't let go.  Her family ties are wrapped up in this café and the mysterious Blackbirds the whole town is buzzing about.

As the truth about her family's past comes to light, Anna Kate will need to decide if staying in Wicklow is the right thing to do.

I wanted to dip my toe into fantasy, since it has been sooooo long since I read this genre.  This was a good way to do it.  I enjoyed this book.  It was cute, like a PG rated family movie.   It has just enough fantasy, magical realism, relationships and mystery to keep you entertained.  The writing was clever and I loved the southern charm the book has.  I give this one a solid 4 stars.

Read it.
